Custody and ownership
Your Bitcoin and Ethereum remain your assets while securing your line of credit. Verify your collateral on-chain at any time.
Your collateral is held in dedicated, segregated BitGo Trust cold-storage wallets.
Your collateral is never pooled with other borrowers’ assets, rehypothecated, lent out or used to earn yield.
APX holds a security interest in your collateral. Your crypto remains your asset and is not recorded as an asset on APX’s balance sheet.
BitGo custody is covered by an insurance policy of up to $250M in aggregate, subject to policy terms and conditions. This is not $250M of coverage per borrower and does not cover market price declines.
APX is a regulated crypto-backed lender, CSA-approved and registered with FINTRAC in Canada and FinCEN in the U.S. Our systems are SOC 2 Type 2 audited.
Understand your borrowing position
Your loan-to-value ratio, or LTV, compares your outstanding debt—including accrued interest—with your collateral’s current value. Falling crypto prices and additional borrowing increase your LTV. Repaying principal lowers it.
Each draw must stay within your approved LTV. Available credit changes with your collateral value and outstanding debt.
We send warnings every six hours while your LTV remains above 80%. You can repay part of your balance to reduce your LTV.
The 90/85 Standard triggers a sale of collateral to target approximately 85% LTV. Sale proceeds reduce your outstanding debt, and APX charges no liquidation fee.
Accrued interest counts toward your LTV, whether billed or not. Interest is billed monthly. Any billed interest unpaid on its due date is added to your outstanding balance the next day.
Borrow as your needs change
Cover payroll, inventory or seasonal cash-flow gaps. Repay as money comes back into the business and access available credit again.
Meet tax payments throughout the year without selling Bitcoin or Ethereum to fund each obligation.
Draw funds for expenses spread across several months, borrowing the amounts you need along the way.
Fund recurring power, hosting or equipment costs while retaining your pledged Bitcoin reserves.
Bridge the timing between planned expenses and expected income while keeping your crypto holdings.
FAQ
A crypto line of credit is a revolving borrowing arrangement secured by cryptocurrency. With APX, Bitcoin, Ethereum, or both support a five-year line that lets you draw funds, repay principal and borrow again without submitting a new application each time.
Annual interest is 11.99% on outstanding balances under $100,000, 11.49% from $100,000 to $1,000,000, and 10.49% over $1,000,000. Your rate can change as your balance moves between tiers.
No. Interest accrues on your outstanding balance, rather than your full approved limit. Standard retail and private-client facilities also have no unused-line fee.
APX charges no origination, early repayment or liquidation fees, and there is no minimum interest. Standard retail and private-client facilities have no unused-line fee.
Yes. Their combined current value supports the same line of credit. For example, $200,000 of Bitcoin and $100,000 of Ethereum could support borrowing of up to $180,000 at 60% LTV, subject to approval.
Available credit depends on your approved limit, current collateral value and outstanding debt, including accrued interest. Falling prices can reduce the amount available to draw. Rising prices or principal repayments can increase it, within your approved limit.
Once your repayment settles, credit becomes available again subject to your approved limit and current collateral value. CAD repayments by pre-authorized debit take five days to settle. USDC repayments do not have the same processing delay.
Your line of credit has one maturity date, five years from when it opens. Later draws do not start a new five-year term. Paying your balance down to zero does not automatically close the line; it can remain open for the rest of its term while you remain eligible.
Interest accrues daily and is billed monthly. Billed interest is payable on its due date. Any amount unpaid on that date is added to your outstanding balance the next day. Accrued interest counts toward your LTV, whether billed or not.
Your available credit may decrease and your LTV may rise. Above 80% LTV, APX sends automated warnings every six hours. At 90%, partial liquidation targets approximately 85% LTV, with no liquidation fee. Further price declines can trigger additional sales.
Borrow More lets you request additional funds on an existing loan, subject to approval and collateral availability, using that loan’s rate, maturity and repayment terms. The Line of Credit is a separate revolving product designed for repeated borrowing over five years.
APX serves eligible individuals and businesses in Canada, and eligible businesses in the U.S. Canadian borrowers can receive CAD or USDC; U.S. businesses receive USDC.
No. Your crypto secures the borrowing, so APX does not run a credit check. Identity verification and an eligibility review are still required.
After approval and receipt of collateral, USDC draws are typically funded within minutes. CAD wires are typically sent the same or next business day. Bank cutoffs, weekends, holidays and processing times can affect arrival.
Pledging crypto as collateral differs from selling it. Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and jurisdiction, and a collateral sale—including through liquidation—can have tax consequences. Ask your tax adviser how borrowing applies to your situation.
Get a five-year line of credit backed by your Bitcoin, Ethereum, or both. Draw what you need and pay interest only on your outstanding balance.
Available credit depends on collateral value and outstanding debt. Collateral may be sold if the liquidation threshold is reached. Your credit agreement sets out the terms that apply.
